Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Proviso Inc., doing business as ProvisoIQ ("Proviso," "we" or "us"), collects through provisoiq.com and its subdomains, how we use it and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can: free downloads need no email, and the readiness check asks nothing about clients or matters.
1. Who is responsible
Proviso Inc., a California corporation, is responsible for your personal information under this policy. Contact us at [email protected].
We have not appointed a representative in the European Union or the United Kingdom. People there can contact us directly at [email protected].
2. What we collect
When you browse the Site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. Cloudflare also processes your IP address and browser information to deliver and protect the Site. If you accept analytics in our consent banner, we also load Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies to measure how pages are used. If you accept advertising cookies, we load the LinkedIn and Google advertising tags that measure whether our ads led to a visit or purchase.
When you download free Content. Downloads need no email or account. We count downloads and copy-button clicks in aggregate.
When you subscribe to the newsletter. Our newsletter runs on Ghost at newsletter.provisoiq.com. We collect your email address, any name you give, your subscription choices, and whether emails are opened and links clicked. Paid subscriptions are charged through Stripe, which collects your payment details; we see your plan and payment status, not your card number.
When you buy a Product. Our merchant of record (currently Lemon Squeezy, and Paddle where offered) handles checkout. It collects your name, email, billing address, payment details and tax information, and shares with us your name, email, country, order details and license key. We never see your full card number.
When you contact us or send feedback. We collect what you send, including your email address. Email is handled through Google Workspace. One-tap ratings and the optional feedback question inside each pack are collected without your name.
When you send a Submission or join the referral program. We collect the Submission, the name you choose for credit (if any), and, for referrals, your email, your referral link and the purchases made through it.
When you use the readiness check (once it launches). Your answers tailor the result shown on the page. They are not linked to your email, and the check asks nothing about clients or matters.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The Site is intended for professional use.
3. How we use it and our legal bases
- To deliver Products, licenses, downloads and updates you asked for (performance of a contract).
- To send the newsletter and any update notices you opted in to (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To answer messages and handle refunds, credits and referrals (contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business).
- To understand which pages and Products are useful, using aggregate figures (our legitimate interest in improving the Site; for Google Analytics, your consent).
- To measure advertising (your consent).
- To keep records required by tax, accounting and other law (legal obligation).
- To protect the Site, prevent fraud and enforce our terms (legitimate interest).
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that process it for us under contract: Cloudflare (hosting, security and analytics), Ghost (newsletter), Stripe (newsletter payments), Lemon Squeezy and Paddle (checkout, as merchants of record), Google (Workspace email and, with consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads), and LinkedIn (advertising measurement, with consent). We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to a successor if our business is transferred.
5. No sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. Advertising tags load only after you accept them in the consent banner, and you can withdraw that choice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a refusal of advertising cookies.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where we transfer personal information from the EU or the U.K., we rely on the provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its U.K. extension, or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the U.K. addendum.
7. How long we keep it
- Newsletter records: while you are subscribed, and deleted within 30 days after you unsubscribe, except a suppression record of your email so we do not email you again.
- Purchase and tax records: seven years, as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support emails: up to three years.
- Feedback you send through the feedback page or by email (your message, the role, organization details and optional name you give, your publishing choice and the date) is kept to improve the Products and, where you allow it, to publish your review and show it is genuine, until you withdraw your consent or three years after we last use it, whichever is later.
- Referral records: until the reward expires or is used, plus one year.
- Analytics: Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months; Cloudflare Web Analytics keeps aggregate data only.
8. Your rights
Everyone. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it, and you can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by writing to [email protected].
California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; to opt out of any sale or sharing; and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information or use sensitive personal information. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
EU and U.K. residents. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority or, in the U.K., the Information Commissioner's Office.
We respond to requests within the time the law requires, usually one month for EU and U.K. requests and 45 days for California requests.
9. Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections, two-factor authentication on our accounts and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you as the law requires if a breach affects your information.
10. Changes
We will post any update on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will also note it in the newsletter.
